About

Michelangelo was the master of capturing the human figure in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Yet, both in his own time and historically, he was known for and revered for his numerous unfinished projects. Unfinished works like Michelangelo’s ‘The Entombment’, April’s ‘Picture of the month’, have entranced viewers and been on public display for centuries.

In this onsite life drawing course, we will play with the concept of ‘finish’. You will draw from life models and engage in creative exercises. The first half of the day will focus on developing your life drawing skills, and later we will creatively reimagine ‘finish’ using a variety of media and techniques, including collage.

Your art-making will be enhanced by a talk and visit to the Gallery for close looking at numerous and evocative unfinished works, including pictures by Michelangelo, Leonardo, and others in the collection.

All materials will be included.
