About

Inspired by the new exhibition ‘The Last Caravaggio', our lunchtime talks this season explore depictions of drama.

We cannot be certain of the story that is being told by this beautiful and mysterious painting by the Florentine artist Piero di Cosimo, except that the presence of the goat-legged satyr means that the source must be a Greek or Roman myth. However, we can learn so much simply by looking, and we will explore potential meanings before tracing a possible written source and some historical context for the painting.
