About

Interdisciplinary artist and storyteller Jo Blake is joined by Siobhán Jolley, the Howard and Roberta Ahmanson Research Fellow in Art & Religion, for a talk and tour exploring the role of Mary Magdalene in both Jo’s practice and art in our Collection. Jo’s recent work ‘The Witness’ is inspired by the Gospel of Mary and reveals how one woman’s centuries old testimony is thrust into the life of a contemporary woman.

Exploring ‘The Witness’ and key works across the Gallery, Jo and Siobhán discuss Mary Magdalene, the relationship between different modes of creative retelling, and the art of feminist storytelling.
